Florida
Florida is America’s getaway to warm weather, tropical beaches and family entertainment. My first trip was in the 1970’s, when Mom and Dad took us to Walt Disney World. Since then, I’ve been hooked on that part of the world. Keep in mind each part of the state is distinctly different.
The north east coast and the capital region (Tallahassee) are throwbacks to old Florida. Here, blue collar work, out door fun and great entertainment is key. Jacksonville has a huge naval facility. Tallahassee is known for its charm, Florida State and Florida A&M.
Central Florida is of course known for Daytona Beach, Disney, Sea World, NBA basketball, and other amusement themed vistas.
Tampa is home to Hockey, a robust economy, pristine west coast beaches and “snow birds” from the central/north central United States.
The panhandle is a Gulf Coast vacation beach playground, while Fort Myers, Naples, Sanibel and Captiva are traditional, laid back destinations.
If you’ve ever been to the Treasure and Gold coasts, you are already aware of the immense wealth starting north of Jupiter and extending south all the way to Miami. I lived in West Palm Beach for several years and the beauty there is unmatched. Also unusual is the amazing disparity of wealth between the classes in this part of Florida.
South Beach is must, so is Juno Beach, the Keys, and the Everglades. Visit Florida, knowing you will have a great time, see wonderful sights, and likely go home sunburnt and fulfilled.
